Tech Talent & Strategy

I signed up for my 8-week Java code immersion bootcamp a week before it started after being laid off from my job and I'm so glad I did! My Tech Talent South Teacher, Zach, and Teacher Assistant, Phibal, were so incredibly supportive and guided me through HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, SQL and so much more! From front end to back end, they helped me quickly come up to speed with the tools I would need to continue learning and coding to become a full stack developer. I loved being in the full time class and having a close-knit cohort of students who were also very passionate about learning to be a full stack web developer. We leaned on each other when needed and also got great support from our teachers inside and outside of the classroom. The whole TTS team were very supportive and even offered tutoring sessions. I gained so much from being in a great cohort, having instructors who helped push and guide me along the way, attending great meetup events hosted by TTS, and having a fantastic TTS tutor, Riyazh. I can't say enough great things about TTS and thanks to them, I am now working in a field I love and doing meaningful work that utilizes my new coding skills. I was hired right out of my bootcamp and I couldn't be happier.

Also, Ethan is an awesome instructor. He is very kind to everyone, novice and expert, all the same. Amazing curriculum bootcamp! I came from an academic engineering background and decided to leave my PhD program in biomedical engineering to switch careers and go into software development. I found TTS through a local networking event where a regional representative told me about the bootcamps offered, and I decided to enroll in the Full Stack Web Development course. I had the absolute best time in this course! I learned so much about front-end and back-end development including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as specialized frameworks to create beautiful web pages and interactive applications. The back-end education and concepts we went over during our object-oriented programming in Java section were also incredibly valuable to me since I do not have a computer science degree. Overall, I would definitely recommend TTS to others who want to change careers or supplement their knowledge because the comprehensive nature of the bootcamp really allowed me to feel confident saying that I am now a full stack developer. Also the TTS community is extremely friendly, and they have been wonderful on a personal level.

The group behind Tech Talent South is small, but bright, passionate, and kind. The code immersion course was fast-paced, covering a range of technical skills, programming languages, and resources for further learning. The focus is Ruby on Rails, but the supplementary coursework is a great introduction to the wild world of development. Some students came in with no programming experience at all, others were looking to extend their technical degrees, most were looking for advancement or refreshed careers. As we left, we were able to go off in as many directions as we came- noticeably improved in skill and confidence. My favorite parts of the course were the extra-curricular activities (tours, speakers, and workshops) and the diversity of topics. Git was a little more confusing that I expected, SQL was my favorite day in class, and JavaScript is on my list for future exploration. Since graduating, my curiosity and confidence have been higher than ever, and it's paying off in my job search. Nothing beats feeling challenged, empowered, and stable. We really can do it all.

I enjoyed learning at Tech Talent South’s Full Stack Java Web Development program. I successfully completed this course during middle of pandemic 2020-2021. It was intensive learning and hard work. Both administrative staff and instructors are helpful. Instructors are very knowledgeable, supportive and readily available. This camp is for motivated individuals as it requires dedication, hard work, and teaches needed web tools.
