Smarter Homes handled our home theater TV, speakers, and AV cooling, and the experience was seamless. The crew was knowledgeable, efficient, and clearly experts at what they do. Everything was installed with care, attention to detail, and done right the first time. The system looks great and works perfectly. I was introduced to Smarter Homes of Austin over a decade ago by Ray Tonjes, who was building a green home for us and highly recommended Smater Homes for all our low voltage needs. We had them design a full home system for us, complete with speakers in most rooms, multiple TVs, WiFi, and hardwired internet to numerous rooms, all on a private and secure LAN and accessed through a custom designed user interface (compatible with both Apple and Android). While AV technology has improved considerably over the last decade, Smarter Homes continued to support our original system which has worked wonderfully for us over the years, with only a few upgrades needed (at our own request). While we have been very happy with the system Smarter Homes designed for us, it is really their service that sets them apart. We were hit with a power glitch this past weekend, which caused our UniFi dream machine to go into a constant “need to reboot” state. After a frustrating Saturday morning trying to get it back working on my own, I texted the owner Pete and he quickly responded with a few things for me to try. Unfortunately, those weren’t successful so I texted him again Sunday morning and he offered another potential work-around. When that didn’t work he asked “Are you around today?”, and within the hour was at our home debugging the problem. (Yes, this is on a Sunday.) Rather than give the easy answer of “you need new hardware”, he took the time to figure out how to bypass the reboot cycle, re-image our system, and get it back to its normal working condition. Now instead of looking at a depressing “need to restart” screen on the dream machine, I can listen to dreamy over the rainbow music on our system throughout our home. I can’t imagine any company (regardless of their market) who could provide higher quality and more timely service than Smarter Homes has provided to us for over 10 years. I would highly recommend them for any new low voltage home automation system you need, as well as for providing support for your existing AV system

We’ve been very pleased with the professionalism and responsiveness of Peter and team at Smarter Homes. We were looking for a company to provide ongoing service for our AV and home technology solutions and Smarter Homes service plan with both remote monitoring and troubleshooting and in-person service visits when required is a perfect fit. Pete has even helped me troubleshoot some issues with home technology which fell outside of the scope of the systems he monitors. He’s gone the extra mile several times and it is much appreciated. I highly recommend this company for your home AV, security, and lighting needs. Added bonus: he’s a really nice person.

Pete and Andrew are a great team. I have called on them for years to install security cameras, audio and video systems in our home. Pete came out today and installed a new ROKU and cable box for us. He insured all systems were working properly.
