Technology By Design

Brent has been great to work with. We used TBD for a new build as well as for some updates. They have everything you need for automation, security, lighting and sound. The office is easy to work with for call backs and yes unfortunately we have had some. You can shop around and find cheaper prices but sometimes you get what you pay for. I did not feel I was being over sold and have to admit now that I understand what was in the “complete” package. Some of which I wish I had but most I didn’t need and don’t miss.

Brent Fincham and the entire team at Technology By Design are great to work with! They give excellent advise and are very responsive when you need them. They customized our whole house and did an A+ job!

Our experience with Technology by Design was a very good one, starting with our appointment at their showroom (which is nice) all the way to the final install. Our sales rep was knowledgeable and answered our questions, and the installation team was clean an friendly. Its been a long time since we used the multi room audio system in our home because it just wasn't convenient to turn on, and over time we just stopped using it. Now that we can control our music and radio station selections from our phones and iPads it gets used every day. Couldn't be more happy with our audio system now, and I'm glad we chose Technology by Design.

Had a doorbell camera installed by a company but it didn't work well and they said the transformer probably wasn't big enough. I tried a couple different things but could not find the transformer and a contractor suggested I call Technology by Design. Ryan came out today and did a great job. He had to look for the transformer (an electrician friend had come over and could not find it), located where it was hidden, found he did not have the right size, got another one, got it installed, and it is working fine now. He could not have been more polite, pleasant, and cleaned up after he was done. It was a great experience.

They are good people and they do know their stuff however their warranty comes at a high price. Systems costs 10's of thousands of dollars and there is always something needing attention. Instead of a good warranty and a long term maintenance program I got stuck with bill after bill after bill. I have faulty equipment getting covered by savant but tbd charges me hundreds to come replace the part. Then something breaks as their fixing that and I'm paying for another service call. I'm happy with how everything got set up but what I'm not happy about is. 1. How long it took (over a year) 2. The warranty or lack there of. 3. The cost of the system 4. The cost of continuous service calls. 5. Training of the system. i would suggest writing the warranty and service contract before agreeing to buy equipment.
