I’ve owned and operated various businesses for over 45 years, and our current company for a little over 10, with all being strictly B2B. Through a combination of great people, great products and hard work, we’ve always achieved success. As consumer buying habits continued to evolve, we felt our model had too as well. Hence, a few years ago we decided to add Amazon to our network of sales outlets. Given Amazon’s experience, marketing tools, and millions of sellers, how difficult could it be? What we envisioned and what we experienced were two very different things. While posting products is simple enough, as is spending thousands on Amazon ads, actually making money on Amazon is anything but. Recognizing that we lacked the expertise to succeed on Amazon ourselves, we hired an in-house expert, followed by another. Fast forward some six months and many thousands of dollars, it was clear that “Plan B” was no better than Plan A, just more costly. After interviewing almost a dozen such marketing firms, we hired one … and once again, yet another some nine months later. Never in my many years have we struggled so to fill such a need. While many talked a great game, and even produced seemingly legitimate reviews, none moved the needle even close to enough to cover their fees, no matter how long the runway. The juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze, so we abandoned the idea. For about six months our Amazon pages just sat, with zero management. After 9 months our sales averaged over $60,000 per month, and they continue to grow. More importantly, we went from lousy margins and losing money, to making money and enjoying margins equal to those achieved through our traditional sales channels. 2026 will be our first full year with PDMG, and I’m certain we’ll surpass $1 million in sales on Amazon with them at the helm.
