Beyond disappointed. Original counselor gave cookie-cutter advice, was verbose and a poor listener, kept missing his own deadlines for getting us information, said the Common App was ready to go when it was missing whole sections of information, created busywork that ended up never being included in the app etc etc. When I reached out to Don McMillan to suggest that switching to another counselor might be appropriate, he said that I was the problem. Left McMillan and hired a different counselor who helped us immensely and made us realize everything we were missing. Absolutely would not recommend Don or his team.

I am exceedingly happy with McMillan's services. My daughter had some unique strengths and weaknesses in her application, as many kids do. Sam developed an excellent working relationship with her and worked, over a period of many months, with her to choose schools (which ranged from "reaches" to thoughtful backups) and to refine her application and essays so that she put her best foot forward. She ended up getting into her first choice college! Sam was with her every step of the way. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Update: my daughter is in her freshman year at college now and Sam has inquired a number of times as to how she is doing. Above and beyond commitment to my daughter's well being!
