I received a training from Cassandra W. Let me tell you, she's always so enthusiastic when I work with her. When she models lessons she does it exactly the way it could be done in the classroom. She models praise, higher level questioning and the gradual release model. On this particular PD, she tasked us with using the meme generator to create a meme expressing our thoughts on I-learn data and uploading it to the site padlet. Now of course we all love a good teacher meme but I only had little experience with creating my own, let alone uploading anything to padlet.com. This activity was fun and brought some laughter to our normal boring professional developments. Cassandra even let us vote on our favorites and offered prizes to the winners. I particularly enjoyed the activity so I thought I'd try it with my students. I created an assignment for science where the students would compare and contrast digital vs analog technology after a week of research on waves and signals. The students task was to create a meme advertising their digital tv against their competition the analog tv company. The students uploaded to padlet and I must say they definitely understood the assignment. Definitely a great activity to try in these new digital age classrooms. I loved the responses and my students enjoyed being engaged in the classroom. Thanks Cassandra!
